This past Saturday, Irondale’s Speech Team earned 4th place at the Fridley Tournament. Katie Robertson took 1st Place in Informative Speaking for the second week in a row, Anna Lau earned a 3rdplace trophy for Humorous Interp, and Emalee Stone received 7th place in the same category. Several competitors won a baked potato for honorable mention. Congratulations!
Knights Boys’ Swim competed in the Minnesota State Meet where the 200 Free Relay team of Pehl, Steiner, Larson, and Gehring finished 19th. Greg Pehl finished 14th in the 100 Fly and set a new school record. At last night’s swim and dive team banquet, the following awards were given out: MVP: Greg Pehl, Most Improved: Ben Schley, Hardest Worker: Sam Walker and Mason Gehring, Knight (Team Spirit): Vincent Lai, and Academic Achievement: Sam Walker. All Conference Honorable Mention: Sam Walker & Vincent Lai and All Conference: Daniel Larson, Mason Gehring, Greg Pehl, Matt Wittwer, and Kevin Steiner. Congratulations to Irondale’s KnightKrawler Robotics Team on being a member of the winning alliance at the Lake Superior Regional competition and qualifying to compete at the FIRST World Championships in April. The team was also awarded the “Gracious Professionalism Award.” Additionally, team member and Irondale sophomore, Emily Davis was honored with the Dean’s List Finalist Award and our long time mentor, Nate Cmiel, was awarded the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award.
Irondale’s Drumline finished 1st at this weekend’s WGI Minneapolis Regional Championships. The drumline recorded the highest score in the country of any group in their class so far this year and makes them the #1 ranked drumline in the country in their class. The Knight’s Drumline will be performing a special exhibition of their show in the varsity gym after the band concertTHIS Thursday night.
