Neighboring wrestling programs, below is information about our “FREE” wrestling camp next week. We just ask that your athletes fill out the waiver prior to attending. Youth are welcome but keep in mind there may not be many practice partners for younger athletes so they should bring a practice partner.


Exciting News for Fridley Wrestling! Next week’s camp counselors are some of the best in the country! Camp is Free and runs from12pm-2pm Monday July 24th- Thursday July 27th at Fridley High School. Any athletes entering 5th-12th grade are welcome or youth wrestlers that bring practice partners are more than welcome as well. Dodgeball starts each day at 12:00pm, technique starts at 12:15pm, and open mat starts at 1:15pm.


Jim Martinez

Bio from National Wrestling Hall of fame:

Jim Martinez was a two-time World and Olympic medalist. He placed third at the 1984 Olympics and third at the 1985 World Championships, both at 149.5 pounds. Martinez also made Greco-Roman World teams in 1983, 1986, and 1987. He wrestled collegiately for the University of Minnesota, where he was a two-time All-American (1979 and 1982) and a Big Ten champion (1979)

Orlando Ponce

Bio from

As an athlete for Augsburg College Wrestling, Coach Ponce was a 3x NCAA DIII All-American & National Finalist, and a member of the 2010 UNDEFEATED NCAA DIII National Championship Team. Coach Ponce has been active in the Minnesota Wrestling Community coaching at all levels. He works with beginner-college level wrestlers. Coach Ponce has been an assistant coach at Augsburg College for 5 years. He helped lead the team to its 12th NCAA DIII Title in 2015.
