Football Mid-Spring Update

222 Reads

  • 46 of 90 Returning players are participating in a spring sport. Great numbers! Lacrosse has the most football players with 22 of our returning players participating and they are off to a hot start. Baseball is second with 11, and Track third with 10.
  • Our current senior class has been garnering lots of attention from both local and national college football programs. This week alone we have Princeton(NJ), Wyoming(WY), Holy Cross(MA), University of Northern Iowa, and Dordt College(IA) coming to visit with me and some of our players.
  • We have been busy volunteering at Elementary School Carnivals the last two Fridays at Sunnyside and Pinewood, and wil be at Bel Air this Friday.
  • After School Weight Room- Attendance was down a little in the weight room after school the previous two weeks. As the weather improves, and other options become temping, it can be hard to make the choice to commit yourself to being the best you can be for the team. I am happy to say that our coaching staff responded by checking in with players individually and attendance was back up last week. Players need to hold each other accountable, and parents please do your part to make sure if they are not playing a spring sport they are in the weight room 4 days a week. Our workouts take about 45mins start to finish, and you can come in anytime 2:30pm-4:30pm.
  • All the pieces are falling into place for us to make the turn around we as a program (players, parents, coaches, school) can feel coming. Now is the time we keep grinding forward and follow the plan. When you are far away from your goal it is hard to see how important effort and commitment are to moving the needle, but when you are as close as we are it becomes clear that every little bit of effort and energy you put into reaching your goal can make the difference. We are so close, let that motivate you to work harder, know that every inch counts now, and that you have to earn it. Its going to be an amazing summer!
